Global Treehouse’s 2024 Annual Report

At Global Treehouse, we believe that every child, regardless of their health condition, deserves the palliative care support they need to live life to the fullest. We are incredibly proud to present our 2024 Annual Report. More than a summary, it’s a window into the momentum we’re building — with partners worldwide — to transform care systems for children with life-limiting illnesses.

Innovation in Action: The Magnify Tool

A standout achievement in 2024 was the launch of the Magnify Tool. This innovative, customisable resource was co-created through a human-centred design process, engaging over 50 practitioners from six continents and twenty countries. They highlighted the crucial need for intuitive tools to demonstrate impact and facilitate data discussions. By directly responding to challenges such as limited time and resources, we developed a free, accessible tool with over 100 metrics aligned into 10 focus areas that is actively used by a robust global community.

Nurturing Global Leadership and Expanding Access

Global Treehouse firmly believes that the right leadership drives new services, reforms systems and scales solutions to meet community needs. In 2024, we expanded the capacity of leaders globally. Our Executive Director, Laura Dale-Harris, served as faculty for the Children’s Palliative Care Leadership Program, providing mentorship and leading projects. We also supported leaders in establishing and strengthening local centres of excellence. Our strategic partnerships in Italy, Kenya and Brazil are grounded in a shared ambition: to demonstrate excellent, context-responsive care and to inspire replication and investment through concrete, place-based examples.

Amplifying Voices and Influencing Global Policy

Storytelling is central to how we build our vibrant community and advocate for change. In 2024, we launched a new LinkedIn presence to share optimistic stories of innovation and service creation, alongside frank narratives from families and providers. We were also proud to be invited to serve on the World Health Organization-affiliated World Innovation Summit on Health (WISH) 2024 Forum on Palliative Care Advisory Group and WHO’s working group on palliative care.

Strong Foundation for Future Growth

In 2024, we achieved excellent partnership outcomes while growing best-in-class non-profit practices. We strategically leveraged our talented team, comprising staff, contractors, volunteers and advisors, to strengthen our operations and build sustainable partnerships. We are also profoundly grateful to our volunteers from Australia, Kuwait, Indonesia and the United Kingdom, whose diverse expertise supports our mission. Global Treehouse is registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, and more information can be found on their website.

This report is an invitation to explore the profound impact of our collective efforts. Of course, it’s a moment in time that captures our work from last year, not now, and not for the future. As we look ahead, the global need for children's palliative care continues to grow. We are committed to meeting this essential need for families and expanding our global network of leaders.
