Distinguished Paediatric Palliative Care Leader Dr. Renée McCulloch Joins Global Treehouse Board of Trustees
Global Treehouse is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Renée McCulloch to its Board of Trustees. A leading Consultant in Paediatric Palliative Medicine and Deputy Medical Director at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital (GOSH), Dr. McCulloch brings more than two decades of visionary leadership in advancing care for children with life-limiting conditions. Her appointment strengthens Global Treehouse’s governance at a pivotal moment as the organisation continues to spark, scale and share innovation to improve care for seriously ill children and their families globally.
With over 20 years in Paediatric Palliative Medicine, Dr. McCulloch has been an entrepreneurial leader in advancing care for children with life-limiting conditions. She played a foundational role in the creation of the Louis Dundas Centre for Paediatric Palliative Care at the University College London (UCL) Institute of Child Health, establishing a model that integrates research, clinical practice and education. Her work has spanned across borders, including pivotal service development in Kuwait between 2010 and 2013, where she served as both a Consultant with the Ministry of Health and the Medical Director of Bayt Abdullah Children’s Hospice.
Dr. McCulloch’s approach is grounded in human connection. In her practice and as a field leader, she is known for championing access to specialist care, developing collaborative, cross-disciplinary teams and exploring how technology and system design can support more equitable and responsive care. Her insights and strategic thinking will be a significant asset to the Global Treehouse team and to fellow trustees, including Gianluca Fontana, Rebecca Eastmond, Maurizio Petta and Chair Jonty Roland.
“Global Treehouse is immensely grateful to have Dr. Renée McCulloch’s keen curiosity and deep clinical expertise join our Board of Trustees. As a pioneer in advancing care for children with life-limiting conditions for over 20 years, Dr. McCulloch’s extensive international experience and forward-looking, creative approach to solving the biggest problems facing seriously ill children, their families and healthcare providers will be invaluable. ”
“I’m incredibly delighted to join Global Treehouse in its commitment to improving care. This mission resonates with my belief in supporting emerging leaders, leveraging innovation, and thinking deeply about how we build and scales systems that truly meet the needs of seriously ill children and their families.”
Her leadership will further enhance Global Treehouse’s ability to drive change and respond to the critical global need for palliative care, where demand continues to outstrip both the workforce and available reimbursement resources.
